Simple Search allows you tailor your search to your needs.
Want cover for a private room in a private hospital?
Know you will need to visit the physiotherapist a lot?
Definitely don't need enhanced maternity cover?
Expecting a few consultant visits?
No problem!
Simple Search will ask you about all of these, and a load of other questions too. Its three stage process will help you find the plan you're looking for.
It will also provide you with information about the likely waiting periods, if any, that may apply to your cover.
Simple Search allows you to easily narrow your choice down and focus your research.
You can then compare a small number of plans on the HIA's comparison tool and talk to the insurer before making your final decision.
Simple Search costs €39 per year.
Stage 1 asks you what you are looking for in hospital cover for day and inpatient procedures and filters out plans that don't have the cover you want.
Easily eliminate plans that don't:
Cover private hospitals
Offer the level of cover you want for certain orthopaedic or ophthalmic procedures
Cover the 'high-tech' hospitals you want
Cover private rooms
Have a low enough excess per night or per claim
Cover the procedures you want covered (fixed-price or non fixed-price)
Stage 2 asks you about the 'day-to-day' expenses you expect to have during your new policy year.
This information is then used to calculate how much you could expect to get back in refunds for each one of the plans that got through Stage 1.
The types of expenses taken into account include visits to:
GPs
Consultants
Physiotherapists
Dentists (routine)
Stage 3 shows all of the plans that meet your Stage 1 requirements in one sortable table.
The results show the following for each plan:
Plan name
Price
Estimated amount of refunds you could expect (and how these were calculated)
The 'estimated net cost to you' for each plan. This is calculated by subtracting the estimated refunds from the price of the plan. This can be very useful to help you see more easily which plan may be more financially beneficial to you.
